Homestake Mine, Deadwood & Lead, SD

Fall colors from an hill in Deadwood.
Bambi, Bambone, Bamber, and Bambam.
Campsite in Deadwood. We didn’t camp here. Next time.
Remnants of ball crusher at campsite. Circa 1940’s.
Large hole in ground in Lead, SD. Main veins are kinda conspicuous.
Air locomotive.
Sexy lift operator.
3D model of mine workings.
Barrick donated the Homestake (and associated liabilities) to NSF. It’s now used as a super-deep (8,100′) laboratory for detecting neutrinos and other cosmic debris.
Siblings Dyan & Clyde reunite within the circle of love. Actually, it’s a bracket for holding a decommissioned neutrino detector tank. Imaging hauling this equipment up and down the mine.

My finest drive.
