2021 Odyssey Resumed – Day 17 – Flaming Gorge to Yampa River

This was our first visit to the Uintah Mountains and we weren’t disappointed.
The Uintahs are the only east/west trending mountains within the Rockies. It’s essentially a really big anticline.
I’m pretty sure that they’re entirely made up of sedimentary/metasedimentary rocks.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t suitable for camping so we continued southwards.
Along the way to our destination (Yampa River), we passed the Blue Mountain Anticline where we had camped at the start of the NW portion of the trip.
