The SR71 is the most beautiful object ever designed by a human (Kelly Johnson). Anybody who disagrees is “dead to me”.
Dyan’s father was a ball turret gunner on a B-17. Not a job for the faint-ot-heart.
Piloting a B-52.
B-58D Hustler. Sexy but not the workhorse that the B-52 turned out to be.
We befriended a kind curator who took us out back for a private showing of a British Vulcan.
Our new friend went way beyond kind by allowing me to sit in a F177 donated by Lockheed Skunk Works – after then removed the wing edges and sandblasted the paint because they’re still classified.
A great museum that I look forward to re-visiting.
